Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District of the state, Dr. George Akume, yesterday appealed to those who contested the Tor Tiv stool in the last exercise, but lost to the elected monarch, Prof. James Ayatse, not to resort to litigation.
The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state made the appeal at Saint Christopher’s Parish, Wannune, during a Thanksgiving Mass to mark his 63rd birthday.
According to the former governor, he and the incumbent governor, Samuel Ortom resolved to appeal to the contestants to accept the selection in good faith and in the collective interest of the Tiv people.
Akume, however, noted that as a sign of his support for the selection of Prof. Ayatse as the new Tor Tiv-elect, his Gboko residence had been available for the paramount ruler to occupy until the completion his palace currently under renovation.
