Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom felicitates with all young people of the state on the occasion of this year's International Youth Day.
Governor Ortom commends the youths for the various noble roles they have played at crucial moments in the life of the state to enable it achieve greatness.
He recalls the active participation of young men and women of the state in civic duties where students and youth corps members served as ad hoc staff in the conduct of voter registration, elections, population census and immunization.
Governor Ortom also commends youths of Benue for their sterling performances in national and local examinations as well as sports tournaments where they brought honour to the state.
He says the theme of this year's International Youth Day which is 'The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production' avails nations and states across the globe the opportunity to evolve new ways of addressing challenges militating against youth development.
The Governor assures young people that his administration will continue to execute programmes and projects to enable them realise their dreams particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship and education with emphasis on vocational training.
He urged the youths to avoid acts capable of derailing their progress such as cultism, thuggery, kidnapping and armed robbery while embracing peace as the only roadmap to sustainable development, giving assurance that his administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of life and property in the state.Signed:Terver AkaseChief Press Secretary to the Governor.
