Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, says his inability to pay workers’ is as a result of the mismanagement of resources by his predecessor, Dr Gabriel Suswam.
Ortom, who stated this when the Abuja Chapter of the Catholic Biblical Apostolate of Nigeria, paid him a courtesy call at Benue People’s House, Makurdi, alleged that corruption characterised the last administration.
He said he inherited a lot of debts and assured the people of the state that God would help him to overcome the challenges.
He said his administration would not compromise on its stand against corruption.
Earlier, Mr Femi Adeojo, who led the group, had stated that God was doing a lot of things through Ortom.
Adeojo said Governor Ortom had promoted unity between the Tiv and Idoma people and explained that they decided to pay him a visit at the end of their conference in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, because he was God-fearing.
He said during their two day conference, they asked God to heal the land.
