A former spokesman of the Peoples
Democratic Party 2015 presidential Campaign,
Femi Fani-Kayode has continued to express
his opposition to the appointment of former
Borno state governor Ali Modu-Sheriff, as the
substantive national of the party, saying Sheriff
plan is to hijack the party for his presidential
ambition in 2019.
Fani-Kayode, who is also a former minister of
aviation, added his voice to the growing
opposition to Sheriff as the party chairman.
Fani-Kayode reveals Sheriff grand plans
He made this pronouncement in an article that
he published on Friday, February 19, titled '
Modu Sheriff: who has bewitched PDP?'.
Fani-Kayode paints a gloomy of the Sheriff as
"most controversial, intellectually-challenged,
morally-depraved and despicable character",
Daily Post reports.
The PDP chieftain said that the new chairman
was allegedly appointed because "'he has
plenty of money to spend on the party" and
no less than "5 private jets" to lend out to
those who needed a free plane ride".
He wondered why the party did not settled
for a northeast candidate with good track
records and antecedent like Nuhu Ribadu, Bala
Mohammed, Mohammed Wakil, Aliyu Modibbo,
Ahmed Gulak and Wilberforce Juta instead of
Sheriff, who he said cannot be separated from
Boko Haram insurgency that has been causing
great havoc to the country.
The former minister further stressed that the
new PDP chairman long term ambition was to
hijack the party structure in order to emerge
its presidential candidate in 2019.
Meanwhile, Sheriff had promised to lead the
party to regain control of the federal
government in 2019 .
He stated this in Umuahia, the Abia State
capital, during a thanksgiving service
organised to mark the victory of Governor
Okezie Ikpeazu at the Supreme Court.
