Governor Samuel Ortom has changed his mind concerning swearing in the incoming Tor Tiv using a Bible as against the traditional ritual.
The governor stirred controversy last week when he announced that the new Tor Tiv must be sworn in using a Bible.
While attending the launch of a gospel album “Beraka Africa” by the New Jerusalem Singers last Sunday in Makurdi, Ortom said he will no longer insist that the new Tor Tiv be sworn in using a Bible, but still wished for the emergence of a genuine Christian that will be guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible and rule with the fear of God in leading the Tiv nation.
He urged the Singers to continue worshiping God through music as, from his personal experience, it was more profitable to do so.
