Deputy Governor Gets Robbed of N10.8 Million by His Own Bodyguard at Gunpoint

A deputy governor has had the shock of his life after his own bodyguard turned on him to rob him at gunpoint.

Eliud Muriithi, the Deputy Governor of Tharaka Nithi county in Kenya, has been robbed.

 

The man reportedly lost Sh3.5 Million (about N10.8 million) after the robbery on Wednesday morning at his home.

 

According to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Muriithi is said to have been attacked by his own bodyguard identified as an Administration Police (AP) officer attached to his security detail who threatened him using a pistol.

 

The deputy governor revealed that the culprit, Constable Josphat Kipyegon accosted him after arriving at his Kinoru home before escaping with the bag containing the huge amount of money.

 

The Deputy Governor attempted to resist the attack but the bodyguard threatened to shoot him prompting Muriithi to scamper for safety.

 

He explained that the money was part of proceeds from a land sale deal.

 

A speedy manhunt was immediately launched by police bosses and Flying Squad agents to apprehend the suspect.
