Confirming the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bashir Makama, said the gang had been responsible for recent killings in the area. Makama said, “They were part of the gang members who recently struck at Hotel Tyosee in Tor Donga and environs where they killed five persons including an 85-year-old woman. “Luckily, we got a tip off that they were in a meeting in the area plotting their next attacks.
Men of Operation Zenda, who had been on their trail, stormed the meeting venue and were greeted with heavy gunfire. “The ensuing exchange of fire led to the fatal injury of two members of the gang who however died before they could receive medical attention at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital while others escaped into the bush with serious injuries”.
