NYSC DG Urges Corps Members To Be Security Conscious

The Director General (DG), National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, on Tuesday urged Corp members to be security vigilant especially development that threatens the unity of the Country.

Kazaure stated this when he paid a working visit to the Okada Edo camp of the orientation programme of batch B, stream 2.

Represented by the Director of Legal Department of the Corp, Mr Ahmed Tijani, he told the corp members that they have a greater role to play in ensuring the unity of the country.

While stressing there was no better time than now, for them to play the role of uniting the country, he noted that a lot seems to be happening that threatens the unity of the nation.

He also appealed to them to maintain high level of security alertness at all time, especially in the face of security challenges across the country.

Similarly, the DG urged them to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities, if they (Corp members), want to earn their respect.

“Live a land mark in your host community, that is the only way to show that you past through that community. I want to let you know that a lot lies in your shoulder to ensure that the country remains one and a united one for that matter.
“As corp members, you must be abridge builder, especially in your host community. Respect their culture and tradition also to earn their respect,” he stated.

Kazaure however noted that in recent time, death or injuries to Corp members while in camp have decreased significantly because, level of complaint to the service rules has improved.

He noted that majority of these deaths and injuries occurred through road traffic crashes, mostly by Corp members who frequently embarked on such journey without approval.
The DG who commended the Edo batch B, stream 2, for their high level of discipline thus far at the orientation camp, urged them to sustain it.

Earlier, the state coordinator of the scheme, Mallam Abdulahi Yusuf Baba, had told the DG of the high level of discipline that have been exhibited by the present Corp members.
