OPEN LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT
(COMMANDER IN CHIEF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF
NIGERIA)
PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI (GCFR)
By Kenneth Tavershima Kenneth
Mr president, as one of your most loyal and faithful
subject who has nothing but utmost respect for
your person and your office, I am constrained to
write you this open letter.
I write on behalf of the patriotic and well meaning
people of Benue state in particular the Tivs, the
political hub of north central and northern part of
this country.
Mr president, the Tiv people are the fourth largest
ethnic group in Nigeria, they occupy ninety percent
landmass of Benue state, and largely found within
the nearby states namely Nasarawa, Taraba,
Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Niger and the FCT.
The Tivs dominates the political scene in the north
central which is the key to national unity and
political stability of this country. The Tivs have been
in politics since independence yet we remain one
of the most wretched areas in Nigeria while we
have a vast land rich in agriculture, abundant solid
minerals and adequate man power to contribute
our quota to national economy, still the Tivs have
been neglected in the political scene of this
country where we suffer abject poverty, poor
infrastructural development and lack of national
appointments.
The Tivs after going through all these in the past
administrations, we had a CHOICE and we carefully
studied and analyzed the manifesto of your party
the APC and as a political hub of the north central
we decided to pitch tent with your party's
ideology of change, reason being that
a. To fight corruption
b. To promote and foster unity
c. To create jobs
d. Economic freedom
e. Promote agriculture
and many to mention but a few, but after six to
seven months of your led government no single
Tiv son or daughter have been appointed any
meaningful position in your administration. our
people (the Tivs) are people of integrity,
technocrats and zealous who can work to bring
the desired change we crave for in this country.
The desire for change and development led us to
vote massively for APC yet we were denied a
sensitive position of a minister while being the
majority in Benue state. we decide to be quiet and
allow you to understand the political setting, that
politics is by majority and what can be obtained
from the majority.
To further show your negligence and unconcerned
for the Tiv people, you and your vice president
intentionally absented yourselves from the burial of
the paramount ruler (late Tor Tiv Dr. Alfred Akawe
Torkula) without sending a representative while
you personally attend governors sons weddings.
Now the Tiv nation is aggrieved and seek to know
their POSITION in your administration. we decide to
apply caution not to take laws into our hands like
our southern brothers but our quietness should
not be misunderstood for ignorance.
Nigeria belongs to us all and together we can
make this country better, stronger and a more
unified nation of our dream.
Thank you Mr. president and God bless you.
Long Live the Tiv nation
Long Live Benue state
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
