Buhari has been urged to apply caution in dealing with the wanted Tompolo so as not to give rise to a new set of Niger-Delta militants which maybe detrimental to the country.
A Niger Delta youth leader, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari to thread carefully on issues regarding ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.
Disclosing this in a statement, Mulade claimed the alleged persecution of Tompolo was generating ill-feelings and provocation in the region and could lead to the emergence of more dangerous militants in the region.
Mulade said, ‘’Government should not create loopholes for more dangerous militants suppressed by Tompolo’s presence from taking advantage of his issue with the government to cause more havoc in the region.”
He alleged that the factor that brought up militancy in the Niger Delta was gradually resurfacing under the Buhari’s administration.
According to the youth leader, the former warlord has many loyalists in the region who are ready to resort to violence and destruction of oil installations because of the issue he is having with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
