The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), has lifted the ban on local government election in the state.
Chief Electoral officer of the state, Philip Duwe, disclosed this to newsmen at the conference hall of TSIEC in Jalingo.
He said by the power conferred on the Commission under section six of the Taraba state independent electoral law, number six of the 2002 and other enabling laws of section thirty of the Electoral Act 2010, it has declared ninety days notice for the conduct of local government elections in the state.
Philip Duwe said the ninety days notice was to enable the Commission and political parties prepare for the election.
The Chief Electoral Officer said TSIEC is an institution charged with the duty and responsibility of conducting and organizing local government elections in the state.
He emphasized that the Commission is under oath to do the right thing and would not favor any political party or candidate.
Philip Duwe charged politicians to go back to their enclave and canvass for votes by seeking the mandate of their people, stating that the commission would conduct a free and transparent election by providing a level playing ground for all political parties.
He mentioned that the media briefing is a prelude to the process of the conduct of the election.
