Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has promised to ensure that the 300 level law student of the state university, Tyohen Akpuur fully recovers from the gunshot wounds he sustained when four armed men attacked him on Monday in Makurdi.
The affected student was shot in the chest by suspected cultists on his way to the university for studies and was rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital where he is recovering.
Speaking when he visited the victim at the hospital, Governor Ortom who was represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase, sympathised with Tyohen Akpuur and his family and assured them that he would foot the entire bill for the student’s treatment.
He described the attack as an unfortunate and unacceptable development which had threatened the life of a promising young man, stressing that his administration has zero tolerance for negative acts such as cultism, thuggery and armed robbery.
Governor Ortom said the current onslaught against criminals in parts of the state is already yielding results and would be sustained until victory over men of the underworld is achieved.
Mr. Akase quoted the Governor as urging residents of Makurdi and other parts of the state to assist security agencies with useful and timely information to enable them to safeguard lives and property.
