Worried by the alarming rate of violence perpetrated against children in Benue State, the state government is to, in concert with other stakeholders, take proactive steps to end the vicious cycle.
Commissioner for Women and Social Development, Mrs. Mwuese Mnyim, made the declaration in Makurdi, during a press conference organised by her ministry and the Vulnerable Children State Steering Committee, as part of activities to kick-start the campaign to end violence against children.
Represented by the Director of Child Development in the ministry, Mrs. Ann Yaji, Mnyim explained that the measure has become necessary in order to guarantee, and safeguard the future of children who, most of the times, are unnecessarily traumatised.
