Benue State Government is set to offset two months salary to workers in the state as the federal allocation to the state has improved.
This was disclosed by Governor Samuel Ortom at a thanksgiving service at the NKST Church, Yaikyo, in Makurdi.
According to him, they has been an increase in the Federal allocation to the state this month and promised to ensure the completion of payment of February as well as payment of March salaries for state government workers and February salary of local government staff.
Governor Ortom also disclosed that, due to the financial crisis in the state, he had cancelled his scheduled trip to Germany and the United States of America.
The governor stated that the inability to pay workers salaries as at when due does not give room for him to embark on a trip which he said was to gulp N21 million.
He said the money already paid to him would be refunded to the coffers of the state government.
In his stead, the governor said his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase, and Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora, Rev Peter Ichull, would represent him at the separate events in Germany and the US.
