There are reports that a top pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Peter Balogun of Central Parish in Wuse 2 Abuja, has decided to leave the mission.
Kemi Filani reports that the pastor is set to start his first service as the general overseer and founder of his own ministry and church, Citizenship Church, today at Jabi Abuja. Reports say that the popular radio preacher and the organizer of the crowd pulling ‘Destiny Encounter’ programmer started having issues when some elders in church decided that proceeds from the programme should go into the church account.
This, didn’t go well with the full time pastor. Pastor Peter was a former NNPC staff but he ditched his job to become a full-time pastor in the RCCG when the call came. He was however posted from Benin in Edo state to Abuja and after serving in two different parishes, was moved to the Central Parish as the area pastor.
According to Kemi Filani, the Central Parish is the richest of all the Northern parishes and one of the richest in Nigeria due to the numbers of top politicians and prominent Nigerians that worship there. His radio programme as well as the monthly Divine Encounter programme gave him a lot of follower ship especially among the youth and singles. His motivational abilities also stood him out, so also his anointing in terms of prayers. Pastor Peter Balogun and his wife have two children.
